Spend time here to explore the cathedral (free entry) and the picturesque town before we travel on to Blair Castle. 

We travel further into the Central Highlands to the village of Blair Atholl in Perthshire. In the midst of the Grampian Mountains, its most famous feature is Blair Castle*, one of Scotland's stately homes and the last castle to be besieged in 1746 during the last Jacobite rising. Spend two hours in Blair Atholl, enough time to explore its castle and beautiful gardens, or simply wander the town and enjoy some lunch. 

After leaving Blair Atholl, our tour will pause for photos at Queen's View, a famous vantage point in Pitlochry with one of the most iconic panoramic views in Scotland, enjoyed by Queen Isabella and Queen Victoria. Afterwards, our Central Highlands Tour continues past Loch Tay to the Falls of Dochart; a beautiful waterfall that flows through the Highland town of Killin. We spend time here enjoying the atmospheric scenery before a short photo stop at Loch Lubnaig and onwards to the town of Callander. 

Callander lies immediately south of the Highland boundary fault and is historically a meeting point between the Highlands and Lowlands. Take time to explore the Gateway to the Highlands and enjoy some refreshments before we make our journey home to Edinburgh, where our Central Highlands tour ends.

Departing Edinburgh, our Ultimate Whisky tour begins with a journey north to Kinross and to Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery for our first whisky themed stop of the day. Dewar's world-renowned crafted Highland Single Malt Aberfeldy whisky has been produced at Aberfeldy Distillery since 1898. We spend 2 hours here for their Whisky and Chocolate tasting tour; comprising of a full guided tour of the distillery, warehouse and interactive heritage exhibition, and a tasting of Aberfeldy's 12 year old single malt whisky, the premium Dewar's 12 year old blended Scotch and super-premium Dewar's 18 year old blended Scotch, matched with chocolate sourced from a local chocolatier. The tour costs £23 for three whisky samples with paired chocolates.

After a Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery tour, we continue to the village of Aberfeldy for lunch. Spend time here exploring its streets, enjoy the scenery with plenty of time to grab a bite to eat before our whisky tour continues to Loch Lubnaig, and then to Deanston Distillery.

Located on the River Teith, Deanston Distillery was a cotton mill for over 180 years and has been distilling whisky using traditional methods since the 1960s. We stop here to enjoy a whisky tasting at £13.

Our final stop of the day is a short photo break at Doune Castle (famous for its appearances in Outlander, Game of Thrones and Outlaw King) before we return to Edinburgh where our Ultimate Whisky tour ends.

Small Group Rosslyn Chapel, Scottish Borders & Distillery tour by Coach from Edinburgh

From our starting point by Edinburgh Castle, we head out of the city to the village of Roslin, making our first stop at Rosslyn Chapel. Described as the "Library in Stone", the inside walls of Rosslyn Chapel are covered in thousands of ancient carvings, each with a story of its own. You can also learn of the myths and legends surrounding the chapel, including tales of the Knights Templar. Rosslyn Chapel's worldwide fame increased thanks to "The Da Vinci Code", Dan Brown's blockbusting novel. 

Leaving Rosslyn we continue into the heart of the Scottish Borders, an area rich in hills, valleys, rivers and moorland, as well as being the traditional home to Scottish rugby. We travel to the historic town of Melrose, birthplace of the game of Rugby Sevens and location of Melrose Abbey, founded in 660, said to be the burial place of the casket containing the heart of Robert the Bruce. Here we stop for lunch and have free time to explore Melrose and its Abbey.

On our return journey, we'll travel via St. Boswells and pause for a photo stop at Scott's View, where we can enjoy glorious scenic views. Our journey north takes us to Pencaitland, where we visit the charming Glenkinchie Distillery, one of few Lowland distilleries in Scotland for a whisky tour. Here you can enjoy "a tour and a taste", learn more about "the water of life" and sample some of Glenkinchie's finest malts. Then we'll return to Edinburgh.

Group tour of Loch Lomond, The Highlands & Stirling Castle by bus from Edinburgh

An incredible chance to view the lochs and castles of the Scottish Highlands.

Heading west towards Loch Lomond, we take time for a short panoramic tour of Scotland's largest city, Glasgow and see how this once industrial giant is again flourishing. Soon after passing the River Clyde, world famous for it’s heavy industry and shipbuilding, we stop on the Bonnie, Bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, Britain's largest expanse of water. Here there will be time for a boat trip or a ramble, as you wish. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs area, recently designated a National Park, is a place where the magnificent landscape has fired the imagination of writers and artists for centuries.

Moving on, we soon come to the village of Aberfoyle, the gateway to the Trossachs, where we will stop for lunch. With its lochs, glens and heather covered mountains, this area is well known as “Highlands in Miniature” and was a favourite destination of Sir Walter Scott, therefore the location was used as the backdrop for the movies adapted from his books “Rob Roy” and “The Lady of the Lake”.

Driving through the town of Callander & past Doune Castle, which featured in the movie 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', we head to Stirling. On top of a volcanic rock sits historic Stirling Castle where we will stop for at least an hour to allow you time to wander the grounds of the Castle or perhaps enjoy a refreshment in The Castle's Unicorn Café, its name comes from the many statues and other representations of unicorns that can be seen around the castle.

With breath-taking views of the Forth Valley, the site of William Wallace's famous victory in 1297 and of course, the Wallace Monument - a 200 ft tribute to the man immortalised in the movie 'Braveheart'. Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s grandest castles due to its imposing position and impressive architecture. The Scenery will take your breath away.

Heading southwards, we enjoy a relaxing drive home listening to Scottish music while passing Bannockburn, scene of Robert the Bruce's famous victory over the English in 1314, and Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots in 1542.

The site is one of Scotland's most historically significant fortresses, sitting high on volcanic rock and offering wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. You will have time to visit the castle and learn of the exploits of key historical figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots. With lots of interesting things to see and do here, the Stirling Castle experience is a must for any visitor to Scotland.

The gardens here feature in Claire's herb garden, and the Mercat Cross in Outlanders' Cranesmuir Village. Here we stop with plenty of time to explore the village and its cobbled streets and quaint Biscuit Café.

Following in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie, our Outlander tour continues to Doune Castle*, the home of Outlanders' Clan MacKenzie, where you can take an audio tour narrated by Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser). We stop here to explore the castle and its atmospheric grounds before our tour continues.

Our Outlander tour travels on to the country home of Callendar House. The house, now a museum, dates back to the 14th Century and has ties to the Antonine Wall; Rome's northern frontier in Europe. Visit the famous kitchen, which was the set of the Duke of Sandringham's kitchen in Outlander and enjoy its beautiful surroundings.

From Callander House we journey on to the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, where you will have the opportunity to visit Linlithgow Palace*, Outlander's 'Wentworth Prison'. The palace was originally used as a relaxing retreat for the Royal Family on journeys between Edinburgh and Stirling Castle. Its impressive towers overlook stunning scenery.

We leave Edinburgh, crossing the iconic Forth Bridge, into the ancient “Kingdom of Fife”.  We enjoy a photo stop at Aberdour before continuing into the East Neuk of Fife.

We stop in the town of Anstruther, home of the Scottish Fisheries Museum, then we travel through the villages of Pittenweem, Crail and St. Monans, once thriving fishing centres which were made prosperous by trade within the continent.

We arrive in the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews in time for lunch. Here you can enjoy a walk around the town, where Prince William met Kate, home to the oldest university in Scotland, famous Cathedral and golf course. Enjoy approximately three hours of free time to explore its medieval buildings and wonderful cobbled streets in the centre, and have lunch and refreshments.

Heading homewards we travel across the Lomond hills to Falkland for a photo stop. The village was used as the setting for 1960s Inverness in the Outlander series. Then, descending to Loch Leven (scene of Mary Queen of Scot's imprisonment and escape) and on to the picturesque village of South Queensferry where we enjoy our final stop before returning to Edinburgh.

After lunch we drive further into the Highlands, passing one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, Kilchurn Castle, jutting into beautiful Loch Awe and stunningly framed by the surrounding mountains. Then it’s on to Inveraray, a quaint small town built in the mid-18th century, on the shore of Loch Fyne. Explore the town and pick up some Highland souvenirs, or pay an optional visit to Inveraray Castle (April to October only), the historic home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell, which is set in large beautiful gardens overlooking Loch Fyne.

We now start our homeward journey, driving over the Arrochar Alps, an attractive range of mountains, with a brief pause near the top of the Rest and Be Thankful Pass. A little later we reach enchanting Loch Lomond, where we stop at the pretty lochside village of Luss before returning to Edinburgh.

After our stop at Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, the tour will begin it’s return journey south. You will pass by Loch Laggan, the set for the internationally recognised ‘Monarch of the Glen’, before making a stop in picturesque Pitlochry, a delightful Victorian resort town.

Journeying past Perth and through the Kingdom of Fife, we will cross the Forth Road Bridge alongside the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge before arriving back in Edinburgh with a million memories. If you aren’t interested in whisky you can walk to the nearby Dumgoyne Hill and take in the stunning waterfall and tranquil secret glen that sits behind the distillery.

As the seat of the Duke of Northumberland this is the second largest inhabited castle in England and has been lived in for over 700 years. It is full of fascinating things to see and mysteries to uncover. While you walk around the castle you may recognize it as a location from some of the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey. You can even take part in a broomstick training session on the very spot where Harry had his first flying lesson – no matter what age you are!

The road home takes you up the stunning east coast and our tour stops at North Berwick, with its picturesque red sandstone harbour and views to the islands and world-famous Bass Rock. You’ll have time for a walk on the beach or perhaps a quick visit to the renowned Scottish Seabird Centre.
